Covid-19

Due to the rising Covid-19 numbers in Alberta we have decided to implement some new protocols in an effort to ensure the safety of our students. Moving forward everyone is encouraged to continue to use the sanitizer before and after class. All spectators must wear a mask. And all students will now have to wear a mask until they have joined their class and are actively training. Once their class is over they will need to put a mask back on. And most importantly if you are not feeling well, stay home!!

Class Schedule

There are no upcoming changes or cancelations to the current class schedule, except for Testing on Thursday, November 19th. All other dates and times are still the same.

Little Ninjas

It is truly unfortunate that we are not running Little Ninjas classes. Hopefully this will change in the New Year. The plan is to start running classes in January of 2021. Could any people considering to start in the New Year please contact Master Mageau and inform him of you opinion on these 3 topics. 1) Which day is best for you? Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. 2) With the current schedule Little Ninjas would have to start at 5:30, is that too early? Would 5:45 be better? Is 5:15 way too early? 3) If the class time was decreased to 30 minutes, is that still acceptable for a membership rate of $45 a month? Any feedback would be appreciated!

Testing

Testing will be held on Thursday, November 19th starting at 6:15 pm. Students that are ready to test will be informed soon.

Encyclopedia and Gear

If anyone is interested in purchasing a paddle, shield, sparring gear, a new uniform or encyclopedia, let Master Mageau know. These items can be purchased at any time!

Hello Everyone,

I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving, just wanted to update all of you on a few things.

In an effort to balance the class sizes a little better I would like any green belts that are currently attending the 6:15-7:15 class to start coming to the 7:15-8:15 class.

This isn’t mandatory. If attending the 6:15 class works better for you then you can continue to come at 6:15.

Now the bad news… After some careful consideration I have decided that Little Ninjas will not resume in November. Many variables factored into my decision and Covid-19 was not the biggest issue. January 2021 is now the earliest I will run Little Ninjas.

Lastly I want to thank all of you for doing your part to help stop Covid-19 and keep the club running. So far with the measures we have taken, and everyone being honest and staying away if ill, we have had zero problems. Please remember to use the hand sanitizer before and after class. Spectators need to be wearing a mask. And with the temperature dropping and snow eventually coming please remember to put your shoes in the Dojang somewhere along the walls on carpet. We don’t need puddles of water forming.

Any questions don’t hesitate to contact me.

Master Mageau

Covid-19

With the new protocols that we have put in place and with people being conscious of their health and the health of others we have not had any issues with classes or training! Moving forward we will continue to refrain from sparring and self-defence, but we are doing lots of patterns and lots of kicking!!  Everyone should use the hand sanitizer before and after every class, and spectators need to wear a mask while in the facility.

Class Schedule

The class schedule will resume with 3 nights a week starting in October. So the week of October 5th,6th,8th  will be the first week of running classes 3 night a week and this will be the schedule until the end of June 2021. Class times remain the same. 6:15-7:15, 7:15-8:15, 8:15-9:15.

Fall Registration

Registration for the new season has been a nice surprise. Paladin currently has 55 members registered for 2020/2021. Little Ninja classes will resume in November!!!  More info will come around the middle of October.

Testing

Testing will be held Thursday, September 24th. Testing will start at 6:30pm. On this night all classes will be cancelled. Classes will also be cancelled on Monday, October 12th.

Encyclopedia and Gear

If anyone is interested in purchasing a paddle, shield, sparring gear, a new uniform or encyclopedia, let Master Mageau know. These items can be purchased at any time!

Tournament

The 2019 Westerns will be held at Bellerose High School in St. Albert with a 10am start time. The entry fee is $25 for Little Ninjas and $50 for regular members. Team pattern entries are $30 per team (or 10 per member). The event will need a few parents to volunteer to help out with the rings. You will get a front row seat to the action!! A volunteer sign-up sheet will be available soon. Please make sure that the registration form is submitted with payment to the event.  T-shirts will be on sale at the event for $25 and they are spectacular!!!!  Hopefully all Paladin members are able to attend!!

Testing

Regular students will have a testing on Tuesday, November 5th. Regular classes for that evening will be cancelled. Testing will start at 6:45.

Christmas Party

Paladin Taekwon-Do is excited to have a Christmas Party every year, and this year’s party will be extra exciting!! The party is pot-luck, so everyone attending is required to bring something to eat. Paladin will supply pop and water, and adult drinks can be purchased at the party. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7th will be when the party takes place and students and their families are invited. A sign-up sheet will be posted soon with people allowing to choose what they would like to bring. We don’t need 50 deserts, so please try to bring an assortment of dishes. Also, and this is very important. When signing up make special note of how many children under the age of 12 are attending. Every year Master Mageau purchases gifts for the younger students (and their siblings) and it is important that he gets gifts that are age and gender appropriate.

Class Cancellations

Monday, November 11th for Remembrance Day

Facebook

If possible students, or parents, should become friends with Paladin on Facebook. It is the easiest way to put out quick notifications on class changes, or upcoming event reminders etc

Taekwon-Do News October 2019

Tournament

The 2019 Canadian Western Championships will be held Saturday, November 30th at Bellerose High School in St Albert. New this year will be team patterns. Entry fees are $50 for regular members and $25 for Little Ninjas. Each team pattern entry will consist of 3 students and the cost is $30 per team. Everyone is highly encouraged to attend the event. In the past Master Mageau has offered an incentive for anyone that attends and this year he has something very, very cool planned!! Entry forms will be available soon.

Testing

Paladin will hold a colour belt testing on Tuesday, November 5th. Students that will be eligible for testing on that date will be informed soon. Classes that night will be cancelled. Little Ninjas will test on Tuesday, October 29th for the Tuesday Class, and Thursday, October 24th for the Thursday Class.

BBQ

The BBQ was awesome! Thank you to everyone that attended and a special thank you to everyone that helped out! An extra special thank you to Mrs. Mageau for not burning the building down… in case you didn’t know the actual bbq literally caught on fire. Not her fault, but it was pretty intense. The Hall blames some other groups for not cleaning out the bbq properly. No one was injured and the Hall is fixing the issue.

Class Cancellations

No classes Monday, October 14th for Thanksgiving. Classes will also be cancelled on October 31st because of Halloween. That would be a testing night for Little Ninjas, so the testing that month for Thursday students will be held the week prior. October 24th. No classes for regular members Tuesday, November 5th due to the colour belt testing.

Announcements

Hello Everyone,

I hope all of you are doing well, happy and healthy!!

Obviously classes will not be resuming in the middle of February. I was really hoping things would have improved more and we could fire back up again, but I guess we have to wait a little longer. The vaccine is rolling out (slowly) and cases numbers and hospital numbers are dropping.

We just have to wait a little longer.

I wish all of you the best and I hope to see you all soon!!

Cheers

Master Phil Mageau
